I think there should be more boards, I feel constricted. And I'm sure lots of people do. I am not suggesting we turn it into the old ModMouse forums (I'm sure you know that that's where all these new memebers have come from)... but it would make for a good template. Personally I think all ModMouse was, was a forum as the site wasn't really used for anything interesting or new. So I think I8 has much more potential then ModMouse did.

I think there should be better site integration. Even just a skin (Blue and orange themed to match the site)

I think a more traditional member post / avatar location should be used... I find the Avatar on the right is just some weird backwards reading Chinese inspired shit... awkward, and the tiny little usernames are hard to find. If someone changes their avatar, I'm fucked.

Forums should be skinnier as it brings everything together in a condensed and easy to read and locate specific things. Like the website.

I also think I8 should link my blog with a huge banner on the front page.

That last one was a joke, but yeah. My 18 cents.

And every little gift was just one more part of their grift,

I honestly don't think more forum categories are really necessary right now because the forum really isn't that active. Maybe if it picks up, though.

Theres absolutely nothing that attracts peoples attention right now. More forums, even only a couple more would at least create potential. Along with some other stuff mentioned.

More categories/forums helps users come up with thread ideas, if done correctly. Its the power of suggestion. A forum called General Modest Mouse Discussion will get threads like "WHats youR fav modest mouse song" and "Whats Ur Least fav MM song"... very GENERAL and mostly uninteresting discussions..

Thanks for the suggestions.

For now I will look into creating a new theme.

Themes = good.
I'd like a way to post linkable images, kind of like the [IMG2] tag. I also really miss the shoutboxes, both site-wide and on profiles.

Trying out best for the spam. Increased the captcha strength today.

As for opening links in new windows, I searched for the option and there isn't one and apparently there is a reason for it, has something to do with XHTML validity or something, not that I can for the life of me think why.

another one....when there is something new that has been posted, and you click on the thread link it should take yoou to the first unread post on there. i dont think it does that now

Quick reply mod and a search feature? I'd suggest these on any forum. There may be a search feature I just wasn't able to locate it. The quick reply is imho a must. This will increase posting and make it much easier to do so.

phpBB doesn't have a quick reply option built in unfortunatly. I'll see if there's a decent mod out there that can handle it without making updates too impossible in future.
