Nothing...

:o
Go reckless unharmed,
Yep, the shut-ins they're well armed!
Well we all led the charge,
`Til we ran aground in our party barge.

And every little gift was just one more part of their grift,
Oh yeah we know it!

+1
well, keep it like a secret is easier to listen to. and it kind of condenses everything that was good about perfect from now on.
i bought there's nothing wrong with love after discovering perfect... though, and i was like, wtf is this shit? give me back my guitar godliness.

Right now- Are We Different- Priscilla Ahn http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeTR9j8pVwI
Recently- lots of Built to Spill. I'd Hurt a Fly, Time Trap, Carry the Zero, Built to Spill etc. Just recently bought a whole slew of their stuff (having only had 4 songs previously, took me a bit to really get into it). Hard to even find time for Modest Mouse among my new music, but I suppose I'll fit them in.

Wow, you like BtS but not There's Nothing Wrong With Love?

Don't get me wrong, Perfect From Now On is their best album, but TNWWL is absolute pop perfection. There's some pretty cool guitar riffs to be had too... :(

Yeah, after listening to TNWWL about 50 more times I'm ready to retract my previous comment. Took a while to sink in.
What's amazing about that album is that for the first 10 listens it sounds upbeat and really happy... then you realize it's just horribly depressing. I think it's their saddest album. Maybe it's just me though lol.

Nah, I know exactly what you mean. The melancholy in TNWWL is just primarily in the lyrics. I always loved that dichotomy between shimmering, upbeat little pop songs and downright depressing lyrics. It's hard not to feel for that poor guy who thought his Albertson's stir fry dinner would make his apartment a home.

Oh, and on topic, I'm listening to a fabulous band called the Dirty Projectors, some Jesus Lizard, and Pavement.

I try to usually keep a MM album in the rotation too. Right now it's M&A.

TNWWL reminds me of Death Cab. Like, Translatlantacism Death Cab. I also feel like a lot of it deals with death and suicide... ever listened really closely to the lyrics of "Car" or "Stab"?

Yeah, definitely a lot of dark stuff and desperation present.

Also, I've never really listened to any Death Cab, since my friends all did nothing but talk **** about them back when they were popular. Worth a listen?

Yes, actually... I mean, in my opinion of course. They're not really that much like Modest Mouse, although they are part of the Pacific Northwest indie trifecta.
You can stream their new single online as of yesterday, it's quite good.

As well as a lot of Tom Waits, Johnny Cash, and for some reason Black Sabbath.... Ozzy and Dio.
