Vantage (Flake Music) and Paper Thin Walls

For those of you who are also Shins fans or have listened to any of their music, have you ever noticed the similarity between Vantage by Flake Music (former name of the Shins) off of the album "When You Land Here, It's Time To Return" and Paper Thin Walls by Modest Mouse? They're in the same key, have the same underlying chords, and they have a very similar melody and rhythm. I'm not saying that Modest Mouse ripped them off - not at all.

I gather from various sources that Isaac and James Mercer have a relationship of sorts (creative, and probably personal I would imagine). I believe the Shins actually opened for Modest Mouse on a few occasions, did they not? I also read that "Oh, Inverted World" is one of Isaac's favorite albums. What I'm saying is that I think Paper Thin Walls is probably a tribute to Flake Music, and they might've even had permission to do so. Anyway, I think that's kind of cool. Listen to them both, and tell me what you think.
