Favorite Moment/Line from a Modest Mouse song?

What is everyone's favorite moment/line from a Modest Mouse song?

One of my favorites is the part where Isaac sings, "Where do circles begin?" on the Stars Are Projectors.

About 5 minutes in to Teeth Like God's Shoeshine when it sounds like it's over and then the drum hits and it's all very loud and angry for the rest of the song. I've got a lot more moments that I could share but that one in particular stands out because I just listened to it

The hand claps in "Alone Down There" at around 1:38.

The pipes in the background of Education, usually get fixated on those throughout the song

After working in the food industry for the better half of my life, I've often had to fight the urge of screaming lyrics from Perfect Disguise in the face of shitty customers. Specifically:
Cuz you cocked your head to shoot me down,
And I don't give a damn about you or this town no more
No cuz I know the score
Need me to fall down, so you can climb up
Some fool ass ladder, well good luck
I hope, I hope there's something better up there

Honestly, these lyrics pretty much sum up humanity... up there with my favorite lyrics of all time.

As for favorite moments, I'd have to say Styrofoam boots when Eric and Jeremiah come in. The first time I heard that... :o

-The last minute or so of Mice Eat Cheese. Love the instrumentals in that song.

-Beginning of Dramamine (cliche, I know)

-In Edit the Sad Parts, I love the guitar leading up to and the lyrics :
"If you stand in a circle
Then you'll all have a back to bite
Backlogged books on the seven wonders
We're all so funny but he's lost his joke now
Our communications come from one lined joke
From stand up comics and a rock musicians
Making so much noise you don't know when to listen"

-In Custom Concern I love the first two lines and they way Isaac sings them:
"The custom concern for the people
Build up the monuments and steeples to wear out our eyes"

-The part in Spitting Venom where Isaac says, "Now the drop" and the rest of the band comes in.

-Take your pick of lyrics from Bury Me With It

I know it's probably a little premature, but I really love Isaac in Ansel, the way he sings "well you can't know, you can't ever really know what you really wanna know"

I find that line from striking in general.

The Cowboy Dan refrain.... "Everytime you think you're looking, you're just looking down" followed by the fade back into the main riff. Shiver-worthy.

On a side note, the song 'King Park' by La Dispute has got the best climax I've heard from a song in a long time. Check it out if you haven't.

Yeah, that is the most apocalyptic/doomsday/Modest Mouse sound I've ever heard, it's awesome.

I like a lot of his contradictions. The "I don't feel and that feels great" types of things

Well as life gets longer awful feels softer, well it feels pretty soft to me
And if it takes shit to make bliss, well I feel pretty blissfully
If life's not beautiful without the pain, well I'd rather never ever even see beauty again
As life gets longer awful feels softer and it feels pretty soft to me!

Yes. Such beauty in those lines. If I had any room I'd get that tattooed somewhere.

This 100 times. 2nd song I ever listened to by MM. I knew the second I heard this part that they we're a special band and listening to the rest of their music only solidified that.

Here are my favorite moments, I have so many of them and still find new ones all the time:

- Towards the end of "Lounge (Closing Time)" when the song goes from really loud to that soft lingering guitar riff with the female vocals and Isaac singing the lyrics from "Heart Cooks Brain"

- In "Life Like Weeds" when the guitar starts warping (I guess that's a good word for it? lol) and Isaac sings "All this talking all the time and the air fills up, up, up until there's nothing left to breathe"

- The guitar build up at the end of "Ohio", and the line in the song "Rows of lights to illuminate lines, why don't they turn them off and let us see night"

- The intro guitar in "The Whale Song"

- The entire ending instrumental jam session, particularly the bass, in "Trailer Trash"

-"The one thing you taught me bout human beings was this - they ain't made of nothing but water and shit!!!!" - "What People Are Made Of"

"- More housing developments go up named after the things they replace - so welcome to Minnow Brook and welcome to Shady Space, and it all seems a little abrupt - No, I don't like this change of pace" - "Novocain Stain"

- The first 40 seconds of guitar and the last 30 seconds of bass in "Broke"

- from 4:09 on in "Beach Side Property"

....and so many more

The only one I can think of from the top of my head is the second half to Lounge from Long Drive
You close your eyes and then lose the plot.
